SKY TV to screen all IRB Junior World Championship matches live

SKY Sport will screen live all 30 matches of Junior World Championship 2014 (JWC2014) which kicks off in Auckland on 2 June and climaxes with the Final at Eden Park on 20 June.

Matches will screen live on SKY Sport 1 and 2 while the Rugby Channel will screen replays and highlights.

JWC2014 showcases the best young players in the world from 12 teams, including New Zealand who will battle it out on five match days.

It’s the first time the event has been held in New Zealand and Tournament Manager Dan Tatham said having SKY’s renowned broadcast expertise on board was a huge bonus for what is the biggest international fifteens rugby event in the world outside Rugby World Cup.

“We all know how good SKY is in capturing the excitement of top class rugby so having them on board will be great for all fans who are unable to get along to a match.

“These matches are going to be very special as we see the future All Blacks and future Test players from other nations play their hearts out for the first time in New Zealand. SKY’s support will certainly make this a memorable event for all rugby fans.”

SKY’s Director of Sport Richard Last is looking forward to watching the next crop of superstars play in New Zealand.

“Rugby is our national game and it’s a privilege to be able to host the future stars of world rugby in New Zealand in what should be an entertaining and world-class event. SKY Sport customers love rugby and this will be another exciting rugby series to add to the sporting calendar this year.”

JWC2014 will be played at QBE Stadium, North Harbour, ECOLight Stadium in Pukekohe and Eden Park.

  • SKY Sport’s live coverage begins with the opening match on Queen’s Birthday Monday, 2 June.
  • Australia takes on Argentina at ECOLight Stadium kicking off at 1.35pm.
