Feilding High School’s Luther Hirini has been called into the squad and takes a seat on the bench after injury has ruled out St Patrick’s College Silverstream’s Jarrod Adams for tomorrow’s match.  Coaches are hoping he is cleared to be selected for Saturday’s fixture against Fiji.

The match is a pre-curser to the New Zealand Schools first match against Fiji Schools.  Both matches are being played Porirua Park tomorrow afternoon.

“We’ve got some fantastic strengths to this side – one of them will be our height with blindside flanker Finn Hoeata who is a lofty 2m tall.  With Paripari Parkinson (2.04m) and Isaia Walker-Leawere (2.0m), Finn will be one of three line-out jumpers stretching over over 2m tall.

“I’m very proud of the way the boys have worked heading into this match – there are many hard workers in this side so we should see these boys continued the great tradition of a Barbarians style game with flair and excitement on display.

Coach Darren Larsen said despite a short assembly time (a week) the boys had bonded well, and were relishing the opportunity to play against Australia and Fiji this week.

King’s College hooker Tom Hardy will captain the side.
