Farah Palmer Cup Preview: Round 7

fpcup2

With just one round remaining in the Farah Palmer Cup, there is plenty riding on this weekend’s matches with three teams battling out for the final two spots in the semi-finals.

The unbeaten Counties Manukau and Auckland are all alone at the top of the ladder and have the chance to secure top place when they square off in Papakura.

Counties Manukau have been the best defensive team all season but face the top attacking team in Auckland.

The clash between third placed Canterbury and fourth placed Manawatu is perhaps the most crucial of the round. The winner will confirm their spot in the semi-finals while the loser could miss out altogether dependant on the result in the Wellington v Bay of Plenty match in Porirua.

Bay of Plenty are yet to win a game in 2016 and the Wellington Pride will back their chances of taking a bonus point win and snatching fourth place.

The final match sees Otago and North Harbour clash LIVE on Sky Sort at 12.30pm. In the first match ever played between the two sides, Otago will hope home ground advantage at Forsyth Barr Stadium will help them to a win over North Harbour.
