\"\"International women\u2019s rugby will return to New Zealand in September with a two-Test\u00a0series against Australia confirmed today.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The O\u2019Reilly Cup will be up for grabs when the Black Ferns host Australia in Christchurch on 26 September before a tantalising double header at Eden Park alongside the All Blacks taking on South Africa on 2 October.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

These are the first international fixtures for the Black Ferns since 2019 and mark the\u00a0start\u00a0of their Test season with details of an End of Year tour still to be announced.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) Head of Women\u2019s Rugby\u00a0Cate Sexton\u00a0said it was great to lock in home\u00a0Tests\u00a0for the Black Ferns ahead of next year\u2019s Rugby World Cup.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying at home before next year\u2019s World Cup is vital. We are\u00a0looking forward to hosting Australia and showing the New Zealand public a taste of what they can look forward to in 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a wider group of Black Ferns that have been\u00a0preparing for international rugby since January, they can\u2019t wait to get back out there in the black jersey to represent\u00a0their families and provincial unions, but also put their best foot forward for World Cup selection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be a wonderful occasion to return to Christchurch for a Test before what is sure to be a great series decided at Eden Park in October,\u201d said Sexton.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rugby Australia\u2019s General Manager of Women\u2019s Rugby Jilly Collins said, \u201cAfter the conclusion of a successful Buildcorp Super W competition, and the selection of a 40-strong Wallaroos squad, we are delighted to confirm the two match Test Series against the Black Ferns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBoth matches will be vital in our preparation for the Rugby World Cup next year. The players continue to work hard, and I know are relishing the opportunity to play Test match Rugby again.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rugby Park will host the Black Ferns v Australia on\u00a026\u00a0September, the first women\u2019s Test match in Christchurch since 2017. A week later the teams will play at Eden Park for the fourth time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Black Ferns\u00a0End of Year Tour\u00a0schedule\u00a0will be announced in due course.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Formerly\u00a0known as the\u00a0Laurie O\u2019Reilly Memorial Trophy, the O\u2019Reilly Cup\u00a0is named in honour of the first Black Ferns Selector, Coach and stalwart of women\u2019s rugby. In 1989, Laurie O\u2019Reilly selected and coached New Zealand\u2019s\u00a0first\u00a0national female team which beat the visiting Pacific Coast Grizzlies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Black Ferns are current holders of the O\u2019Reilly\u00a0Cup.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
