annual encounter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Just after halftime Marist led by 22 points but could not quite hang on against a fast finishing Heartland side, who notched up their sixth McRae Cup win on the stuck to it.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;To\u00a0be fair it was a very good NZ Marist side.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NZ Marist co-coach Nigel Walsh said it was\u00a0shame they could not hold on\u00a0after all considering the short preparation.&#8221;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Played in sunshine, it was perfect conditions for running rugby and\u00a0both sides entertained with the Heartland side scoring six tries the defence and scrambled his way over, with first-five Jarred Percival converting.<\/div>\n<p>The Heartland side scored again against the run\u00a0of play when openside Seta Koroitamana\u00a0and second Ethan Pollock combined to put Clare away for his second try to make it 14-5 midway through the half.<\/p>\n<p>Marist however struck back after first-five Peter Breen intercepted the ball and\u00a0got his side\u00a0hot on attack, with centre Kameli\u00a0Kuruyabaki stepping through some poor defence to score, and Breen converted.
