All Blacks Sevens team named for London Sevens

With only two tournaments left in the HSBC World Series, an experienced All Blacks Sevens team has been named for this weekend’s London Sevens.

The team is;

1. Scott Curry
2. Tim Mikkelson
3. Tone Ng Shiu
4. Salesi Rayasi
5. Dylan Collier
6. Akuila Rokolisoa
7. Sam Dickson
8. Jona Nareki
9. Regan Ware
10. Kurt Baker – co captain
11. Etene Nanai-Seturo
12. Sione Molia – co captain

Experienced players Scott Curry, Sam Dickson and Regan Ware all return to the playing 12 after missing the Singapore Sevens and complement the young talent of Jona Nareki and Salesi Rayasi who are set for their second World Series cap.

“Scott, Sam and Regan return to the team and bring a lot of experience to our side. At the same time, it’s exciting to have the new, younger players in the team, this is a good opportunity for them,” said assistant Coach Tomasi Cama.

Kurt Baker and Sione Molia will lead the team as co captains this weekend, as they have been learning from regular captains Scott Curry and Tim Mikkelson throughout the week.

“Kurt and Sione have taken charge this week and have been going well. We need them to get the little things right so that they, and the team, perform well this weekend.”

The All Blacks Sevens will face Fiji, Scotland and Argentina in a tough Pool A.

“It’s an exciting pool with quality teams, it feels more like we are heading into day two. We can’t take anything for granted, we have to bring out A game and play well in that first match to set the tone for the rest of the tournament.”

Day One (NZT)

1.04am (Sun) v Argentina (Sunday)
