NPEC Squad 2021
Here is your 2021 NPEC Queens Birthday Squad.
Head Coach Hosea Gear has announced a 44 Man squad that will be reduced down to the Matchday Squad nearer Queens Birthday.
The squad will have just three weeks to prepare for the annual Queen’s Birthday fixture against the Poverty Bay for the Anaru Skip Paenga Trophy.
This year’s game is incredibly significant as Ngati Porou East Coast Rugby celebrates its 100 Year Centenary over the weekend.
And 100 Years since we defeated Poverty Bay 8-6 on the 13th August 1921*
*1921* – East Coast were still playing under Poverty Bay Rugby Union umbrella {Sat 13th August 1921}
East Coast became standalone Union in September 1921, after separating from Poverty Bay Rugby Union
The first 1st Class Match was not played until 1923 also against Poverty Bay, this was the first “Official’ 1st Class game as East Coast Rugby Union.
