Thames Valley Swampfoxes vs NZ Universities (Team Announcement)

In a big day at Boyd Park on Saturday 7th August we see the day begin with the Thames Valley Secondary Schools U18’s play the visiting Ngati Porou East Coast U18s  on Field #2 at 12pm then as the curtain raiser to the main game the Thames Valley Emerging XV take on the Waikato Divisional XV.

Then we have our first 1st Class match since 2019 as the touring New Zealand Universities Rugby Team pay us a visit. Kick off at 2pm.

The Thames Valley Swampfoxes coach  David Harrison has selected his team to take on the NZ Universities side, with the standout being a possible 13 players (8 in the starting lineup , with 5 on the reserves bench) receiving their first Thames Valley Cap in a first class game.

Thames Valley have met the NZ Universities in two previous first-class matches, in which the Students have had the better of day winning 17 to 5 in 1995 and 78 nil in 2010. But since then The Swampfoxes have been Meads Cup Champions and consistent in the Heartland Championship, along with their impressive win last weekend over the North Harbour Development Team by 24-20 the Swampfoxes are geared up and ready for the challenge.
