South Canterbury and Thames Valley will contest the Meads Cup in Timaru. South Canterbury were minor premiers when beating West Coast 46-19 in Greymouth while Thames Valley lost at home to Whanganui 27-35.
That win gave Whanganui home advantage in the Lochore Cup final against North Otago who beat King Country 36-5 in Oamaru.
The playoff for fifth and sixth has unofficially resulted in Horowhenua Kapiti missing out as a result of Poverty Bay’s 34-33 injury-time win. Three teams, Poverty Bay, Mid Canterbury and Horowhenua Kapiti ended on 24 points. Mid Canterbury and Poverty Bay went through as winners of games in pool play
