Shake-up in Heartland points table

THE TOP 4 with one week to go

Front runner Mid Canterbury suffered a 43-47 loss to Horowhenua Kapiti at Ashburton in round seven of the Pink Batts Heartland Championship on Saturday.

The win, and that by Wairarapa Bush over East Coast 45-3, has resulted in an interesting scenario heading into the last round of play next weekend.

Both Horowhenua Kapiti, who play Buller at home, and Wairarapa Bush who have Wanganui at home, are on 22 points, a share of fourth place in the competition though due to their earlier victory over Horowhenua Wairarapa Bush hold the 4th place outright on point differential.

South Canterbury, who thrashed North Otago 58-21 in Timaru have moved to the lead with Wanganui, after their 55-23 win over Poverty Bay are now second with Mid Canterbury in third place.

A feature of the round was two players, Horowhenua Kapiti’s Teegan Minkley and Buller’s Setefano Sauqaqa, scoring four tries for their sides.
