MEDIA RELEASE – CEO RESIGNS
04 March 2025 Media Release: 31 years of service coming to an end.
On behalf of the West Coast Rugby Union, we have accepted Chief Executive Mike Connor’s resignation after 31 years of service to the rugby union.
Mike was appointed as Chief Executive in 1994 and 31 years later, leaves the union in a sound financial position and with a business model that has provided financial benefits to its stakeholders and clubs.
Along with wife, Helen, who has provided admin support and gear custodianship, Mike has committed his time to promoting and sustaining a viable and flowing Rugby Union, sought out and maintained levels of sponsorship and funding, as well as maintained strong and healthy relationships with other Provincial Unions, the BNZ Crusaders franchise, and New Zealand Rugby.
Mike will continue in his role until 4 April 2025 to provide the board with a smooth transition up to the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
We want to thank Mike and Helen for their contribution to West Coast Rugby over the 31 year period, we wish them both well in their future endeavours and look forward to seeing them enjoying the fruits of their work from the sidelines.
The Board will look to advertise for a replacement soon.
