The Thames Valley selectors have named their team to challenge Counties Manukau for the Ranfurly Shield on July 2 2014, at Pukekohe.
The Swamp Foxes, whose biggest scalp remains Australia, will be presented with their first challenge for the Log o’Wood since 2007.
It will be their 14th challenge overall since first given a crack in 1951.
Thames Valley had a decent hit out against the Cook Islands, winning 19-12, while the Counties Manukau Cavaliers beat the Waikato Harlequins 26-21 at Beetham Park last week.
“It was a positive exercise for us and we gained some good information from it” said coach Tana Umaga.
“As we get close to naming a squad, it is forcing us to make some tough decisions on selection with plenty of the players performing well.”
Umaga is expected to name his team today.
