Contest tightens in Heartland

Competition at the top of the Mitre 10 Cup Heartland Championship has closed up with four sides with a point of each other.

Defending Meads Cup champions Wanganui share first place on 13 points with Horowhenua Kapiti while Buller and South Canterbury are one point behind.

West Coast is back in fifth place on nine points.

Wanganui beat Poverty Bay 25-14 on Saturday while Horowhenua Kapiti had a close contest before beating Thames Valley 13-10.

Still to register points are East Coast and Poverty Bay.
